“The boundary between interior and exterior acts as a point of discrimination: the definition of the other. My work exploits this differentiation and seeks to explore its very real implications through use of organic bodily forms, while defying function and pragmatism […] I have found that simple distilled white vinegar and sea salt pickle is ideal in removing tough fire-scale and, upon reheating brass and bronze toward heat-patination, aids in developing lovely greens and subdued grays. In lieu of chemical patination processes, which can be costly and caustic, I rely on heat patinas to color my work.”
